Teen Animal Care Program
Volunteers assist the staff in most aspects of the daily care and upkeep of the Randall Museum's live animals and exhibit facility. In the course of any given shift, a volunteer might feed some sea stars, exercise the rabbits, sweep out the aviary, or answer a visitor's questions. Volunteers typically begin with basic tasks like cleaning and food preparation, and, as their skills and experience increase, move on to more demanding activities such as assisting with animal health checks or handling raptors.
In order to volunteer in the Randall Museum Animal Exhibit, all volunteers must first complete the Animal Care Class, offered once each year beginning in October. This class is very popular and is open to the public, but those teens who have previously expressed interest in volunteering are given first priority for enrollment. Teens must be at least 13 years old to take the class and become volunteers.
