School Field Trips

The Randall Museum offers interactive programs emphasizing science, the natural environment, and San Francisco history for kindergarten (age 5) through senior citizen groups. Preschool groups are welcome to schedule self-guided tours via Brown Paper Tickets.

Academic year programs are self-scheduling by the teacher through our partnership with the ticketing service - Brown Paper Tickets. If you are a teacher looking for a field trip for your class, please visit www.brownpapertickets.com.

On the site you will type in “Randall Museum” and click “search events.” Scroll down the list of events to find “Science field trips at the Randall.” Please note that there are listings for other programs in addition to those for the Randall Museum.  If you would like to see only Randall Museum programs, click "classes/training" on the left navigator bar to further narrow the choices and see the options available for your class.

Our science field trips include “Creepy Crawlies,” “Green & Growing,” “Air & Wind,” “Electricity & Electromagnets,” "Renewable Energy," "Kitchen Chemistry," "Science of Sounds," "Geology," “Before San Francisco,” “Earthquake” and “Water, Water Everywhere.”  Click on the title of your class choice to download preparatory questions for your students. Click here for tips for making your field trip a successful experience.  Science field trips are taught by contract science teachers. Please click here to download a teacher evaluation.  We also offer our popular Animal PresentationsClick here for full descriptions of each of our programs.  Reserve your field trip at www.brownpapertickets.com.   See our offerings at the San Francisco Unified School District's Greenthenextgen.org.

Field Trip Fees

The Randall Museum charges for our field trip programs.  Fortunately, we have received funding from foundations and members of the Randall Museum Friends to offset half the cost of the trips for public schools only.  Prices for public schools are $45 for Science programs and $20 for Animal Presentations.  Private schools will pay full price:  $85 for Science programs and $40 for Animal Presentations.  Class size maximums are 30 children for all programs.  Self-guided tours are available at a cost of $15 per group, with a maximum of 30 per group.

Brown Paper Tickets charges a small purchasing fee of 2.5 percent of the transaction. There is no cancellation policy. Tickets purchased cannot be refunded.

The Randall Museum is committed to giving all children the opportunity to visit and learn at the Randall Museum.  We appreciate your understanding about our new fees.

Self-Guided Tours

Appointments are available year-round for self-guided tours, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Please contact www.brownpapertickets.com for more information about how to schedule a summer visit.  The fee for summer visits is $50 for groups of up to 60 children.  Reservations are required for all groups of 10 or more people.
